Trying Out Korean Style

From the research I had done on Korean Graphic Design, I used the symbols that I came across to make a typeface that would communicate Jen's Korean roots.

Korean Typogrpahic Design

For my typography project on Jen, I decided to reference some Korean design since she is half Korean. I came across some really interesting typography by graphic design master, Ahn Sang Soo.
A major figure in Korean graphic design, Ahn Sang-soo's work is both multi-faceted and poetic. In his reinvention of the art of writing he has taken on an art-form that is almost universal. I hope to  able to incorporate this kind of style into my final logo.

Experimentation

For this part of our typography project we were asked to experiment with our letters again but this time we were allowed to modify the letter in whatever way we wanted. So, I tried many different effects on photoshop and also did some letters by hand.

For my typography project I was given the letter "a" in Courier Regular font. Here are some examples of the work I did with them in 9cm squares. We were required to experiment with scale, positive and negative space and repetition.

First Day Cover

At the end of my project I decided to design a first day of issue cover to go with my stamps. I wanted to keep it simple and clean, in keeping with my initial design. So I decided, to incorporate a watermark of the globe and give my series of stamps the title of the brief, "A World with a Future"
